Years ago, I took a class in Science Fiction. In that class, I read a story entitled “The Nine Billion Names of God”. In this story, there is a sect of Tibetan monks who believe if they list the 9 billion names of god that the universe will end and true enlightenment can begin. They enlist the services of a computer company to help them in this naming process. The guys working for this company set up this naming computer. As they are packing their bags to leave for home, they look up into the night sky and see the stars flicker and “go out” as the Universe ends.
I had that story in mind when I created this website.
NOT that I was hoping to bring about the end of the world. I thought that computers and the internet can bring a different aspect to how we perceive spirituality.
So….
….when I was in Tokyo a few years ago I went to the Meiji Shrine and saw a prayer tree. People would write down their prayers on little pieces of paper there at the shrine and tie them on this sacred tree for God to read. The Wailing Wall in Jerusalem serves a similar purpose when people write down their prayers and put them within the cracks and joints in the wall.
I thought that the Ether of the Internet might be equal to Heaven. It’s a place of Being and Nothingness. And maybe this website is the vehicle to “send” your prayers to this “place”.
Please feel free to enter your prayers here with the knowledge that to whatever Architect of this Universe your prayers are intended, your prayers will be heard by that Source of Peace only.
